About Students For Zero Waste
How we manage our waste is everyone’s responsibility. “Just throw it away” is no longer an option. We must make thoughtful decisions about every piece of waste. In doing so, we reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and we preserve our valuable natural resources. And who better to lead this effort, than students?
Students For Zero Waste helps teachers and students learn how they can help the City of Oceanside on their path to becoming a Zero Waste city. This website starts with six tutorials that focus on recycling and reducing the amount of waste each of us produce. Each tutorial ends with an action that takes you one step forward towards zero waste. By completing all six tutorials you will have a system set up at home that will help you and your family make smart decisions about waste to help the environment.
Soon you will have another series of tutorials that focus on organic waste and specifically food waste. Students will learn how they can compost organics and reduce the amount of food waste going to landfills. Food insecurity affects individuals and families in Oceanside. These tutorials will help you take action to assist others in need.
